A little about Brian in his own words:
“I grew up on a horse farm in southern New Jersey where four generations of my family raised, trained, and raced standardbred racehorses. When I was 16 I nearly died of a ruptured appendix and later rebelled against the world and was kicked out of high school. After picking myself up and dusting myself off, I got my GED and landed a job in the mail room of a financial company. I soon found that I had a knack for technology and teaching myself, and before you know it, I was Vice President of Research and Development for a dotcom with over a million users. The high tech world can be very stressful, and I grew weary of writing code and fixing problems in my sleep; it was exhausting. I began thinking of the stories I knew I’d someday write as a sort of ritual before bed–I had long been an avid reader of fantasy. I stopped dreaming about code, and the World of Godsland was born.
In 2005, I got the opportunity to spend some time writing, and in 2008 I self-published my debut trilogy, The Dawning of Power. Paperback sales were low and the ereaders were just gaining favor. I followed the advice of a friend and recorded audio versions of the books and gave them away on Podiobooks.com and iTunes. This was pivotal in growing my audience. Later, the ability to give away free ebooks in large quantities built on that audience until the series racked up over 1,000,000 free downloads and 85,000 paid sales. The series now includes six books and generates enough income to allow me to write full-time. Chris Snelgrove of Darkfire Productions is currently recording the premium version of all six books through ACX, and I’m excited to see them released. When I’m not writing, I’m usually fighting to bring broadband Internet access into rural areas.”
Brian wrote a fantasy series called Godsland which has gotten some fantastic reviews on Amazon. One reviewer said “I loved this book so
did my daughter can not wait to read the next one in the series!
We’ll be talking to Brian about Call of the Herald (Godsland: Book One), his social media presence and more on our hangout. I hope you can join us, if you miss it it will be recorded for viewing here and YouTube.
